Be the Blessing: creative practices to embody awareness                    September 2008

Summer to Fall

It's back to school time, what the French call "la rentree" or "the reopening" or "the return." We resume our workaday routines, learn new things, and make a fresh start on projects, changed by our summer travel or local adventures.

Moving into harvest season we may be more focused on our goals. Paradoxically, it's a time to set intention then open up to not knowing exactly how they will manifest. Be clear on what you're asking for and keep your eyes and ears open for unexpected ways it may be coming to fruition.

With a few weeks of Visionary time left, give yourself over to manifesting your ideal life on the first level- daydreams and guided meditations; on the second level- telling friends all about it, journaling, drawing/collaging your ideal life; and on the third level- taking the baby steps needed towards your goals.

Healing Awareness

Catch up with yourself. Take a moment to be here now. True change, deep healing, and surprising creativity happen only in the potent present. Bringing our compassionate awareness to what's here right now creates more space and more time for a healing shift to naturally occur.

- Where am I holding back from living my truth?

- What authentic part of myself do I hide?

- What is my big intention and how do I return to it daily?

- What new teacher or teachings am I seeking?

Creative Practice

Let one authentic, yet hidden part of you emerge and write with your non-dominant hand. Our brains are wired so that the non-writing hand is more directly connected to intuitive wisdom. Give it a judgment-free zone to be and express itself. It may need a blank book instead of lined pages, colored pens instead of business black. Set aside a good 20 minutes to just learn about it.

It's better to ask only, "What do you want to share with me now?" This is not a time to argue or cajole or judge! You can do write with your dominant hand or speak this question and reflection back out loud. Remember your job is to stay open, curious, and patient as if with a frightened child. Try to understand how this part feels, thinks, moves, longs for more life, from its perspective. Invite it to let you know what it doesn't want to happen, and what it does want. This part has great wisdom and can be your finest teacher.

Let it know you hear and see. Reflecting back accurately what you've witnessed can bring this part great relief at being allowed to just be itself. Isn't that what we all want?

If you'd like company with this practice, contact me for a no charge consultation. Kindness to self is powerfully healing, and it's what Wild Imagination is all about.
